This seems to be quite a transitional time for the crops we’re harvesting. Spring crops have been gone for a couple weeks now (radishes, spinach), the peas were done last week and summer crops are beginning. Our market stand is looking very different than it did a couple weeks ago and it’s set to change drastically once our outside tomato crop is ready. We will likely be giving hoophouse tomatoes to the CSA shares for the next 2 weeks – sorry market customers!
So what will be big items this week? We have a LOT of pickling cucumbers. I plan to put together a “pickling” special with dill, grape leaves and maybe a green garlic. I hope to attract the pickling fanatics at the market.
We should have plenty of carrots like last week as well as beets. Maybe a bit of broccoli and definitely a lot of zucchini and other summer squash.
For the first week in a while we won’t have spring onions but we’ll be bringing some “summer” onions. The greens aren’t quite as small and crisp but they are great grilling onions!
