Space under lights in the house is full. Over-full in fact. The seedlings need to go out to the hoophouse. We’ve been waiting for the chickens to get out and the weather to be a bit warmer. Well, we can’t wait any longer, even though there is -8 forcast for Monday night. Here are some seedlings getting used to the harsher light and winds outside in preparation for the move.

We need the space to seed many more flats of seedlings. The solution is to build a bit of a warmer hoophouse within a hoophouse.  This is actually a hot box.  There is a lot of fairly warm horse manure inside this box.  After we got the seedling trays on top of the straw, there was noticeable heat coming from below.  Should help keep things warm at night.  Just in case we will probably put plastic over the hoops and put a small heater in there.
